This masterclass invites participants of all ages and skill levels to explore the repertoire of Dance Me – Musique de Leonard Cohen, an iconic Ballets Jazz Montréal production inspired by Leonard Cohen’s poetic and musical universe.
Led by Andrew Mikhaiel, the masterclass will begin with a warm-up, followed by a choreographic exploration of excerpts from the production. Participants will have the opportunity to discover the company’s unique movement vocabulary while exploring the musicality, movement quality and expressiveness that define this work.
Andrew Mikhaiel is a Canadian dancer, teacher, and choreographer originally from Mississauga. He performed with Ballets Jazz Montréal, touring across Canada and internationally and interpreting works by renowned choreographers such as Crystal Pite, Andonis Foniadakis, Aszure Barton, and Juliano Nunes, among others. He was notably a member of the original cast of Dance Me – Music by Leonard Cohen.
Relentless pulsations, synchronized energies. At once dynamic and meditative, My Fierce Ignorant Step unfolds as an ecstatic soundscape, bursting with the contagious bliss of being alive.
