Each year, Danse Danse supports artists by making rehearsal spaces available, thereby allowing them to deepen several aspects of their creative work. Choreographer and dancer Andrew Skeels is in residence at Place des Arts—in the Studio and in Théâtre Maisonneuve—from January 11 to 24 to create an exclusive work for Danse Danse's (online) benefit event that will take place on March 17. For the choreographer, this opportunity was a moment of light in the current circumstances, which are rather difficult for artists.
The work (d)eux is a duet composed of Andrew Skeels and dancer Charles Brécard, and explores the themes of isolation, connection and the desire to find oneself.
Living under the same roof, the two artists have had the chance to work in close proximity during the months of confinement. Danse Danse's residency and benefit event allows them to carry out this choreographic project and to finally address the public again. Their work will be captured and edited by director Frédéric Baune.
