As part of their performance training, graduating students from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal (EDCM) create and perform solos designed specifically for a given site. Through a partnership between the EDCM and Danse Danse, these works come to life in the foyer and tucked-away corners of Théâtre Maisonneuve.
Each performer selects a distinct location—staircase, window bay, threshold, corner, or passageway—and crafts their solo in response to the space’s unique features: architecture, natural light, surfaces, acoustics, the rhythm of the venue, and the audience’s proximity. Here, the site is not merely a backdrop; it becomes a true creative partner.
Audiences can experience these solos by emerging artists on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., before and after Manifesto, a performance by Stephanie Lake Company.
