Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Andrea Peña is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative practice combines elements of installation, choreography and design. Her work focuses on the creation of critical, alternative, performative and spatial environments that examine the place of the individual in society.
She is acclaimed for choreographic works that are rich in vulnerability, complexity and somatic physicality, extending far beyond simple movement. Reflecting her background in industrial design, her works borrow from visual and spatial practices, questioning the body’s relationship to time and space.
Founded in 2014, her company Andrea Peña & Artists has received numerous awards including the 2018 Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award (Banff Centre) and the 2018 Hong Kong International Choreography Award. Andrea Peña & Artists has toured extensively internationally.
